Gopinath S. is a freelance wildlife and documentary photographer and design consultant, currently based in Pondicherry.
Photography is the medium he has chosen to create awareness about our rapidly vanishing natural wealth.
Apart from themes related to the environment, he also takes up contemporary social issues that
concern our society.
Educated in Pondicherry and Delhi, he holds a M.Phil degree in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Over the years, he has collaborated generously with national and international non-profit agencies in
a vast range of projects assignments. Since 1997, he has accumulated experience in the
publishing industry and has held positions as Photo-editor/Photographer with leading publishing houses like
Oxford University Press and Outlook Magazine.
Author of the ICEF-funded publication, Kalivelli Wetlands, he is currently working on a photo-essay on the Kalivelli lake.
Gopinath S. is an avid traveller and has travelled widely in India and Nepal and enjoys learning
about new places, culture and food. A fan of classic machines, he adores old motorbikes and automobiles.
